When Death Actually Means Something

There’s an unwritten law in the world of fantasy and science fiction these days, that if a character dies he or she will inevitably come back form the dead.

They’ve all done it, from Superman to the Bucky Barnes to Gwen Stacy to Jon Snow to Vince McMahon. I’ve lost count of the number of times this has happened. Which is why the death of Professor Martin Stein in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow television series was surprising, especially considering the show’s time travel premise.

The end of an era. After 17 years and 1 month Snowy has passed away. Hopefully he's back with his old friends now.

You know, a couple of years ago, if I'd heard that Radio Norfolk (or any other local media for that matter) had done a piece on professional wrestling I'd be quite miffed, what with me being Britain's longest-running wrestling blogger and all that.

Two Sheds Wrestling: The April Fool's Joke That Never Was

Today is April 1st, and by now you’ve probably seen dozens and dozens of April Fools jokes, some of which may have genuinely fooled you, others which you probably saw through as soon as you saw them.

But as today’s is the prankster’s equivalent of Christmas I thought I would share with you an idea I had, and given the nature of the joke and the business I used to work in there would have probably been quite a few people who actually believed me.

For years I toyed with the idea on making a “massive announcement” on my blog, on social media, and on that doyen of professional wrestling knowledge the UK Fan Forum, the announcement being that I was going to start my own wrestling promotion, Two Sheds Wrestling, or 2SW for short.

There's been a bit of talk on social media lately about the part of Cromer I live in, Suffield Park. There are many, myself included, who feel that this area is largely ignored by the local and district council in favour of Cromer town centre, mainly because the town centre attracts a lot of tourists, while the Suffield Park area doesn't.

Because of this I've decided to document what I see every day,  taking the route I normally use when I take my faithful friend Monty for his daily walk.

My journey began with a left turn out of my gate onto Lynewood Road, and immediately I saw damaged paths, some by tree roots, drains which are in danger of getting blocked because we never see a road sweeper around here, pot holes developing on the path and in the road.

So as I approached my final day of work for this year I began to realise something. Some of you will probably say it’s nothing special, but for yours truly it’s kind of a mini-mega event-type of thing.

I'll Wait For You There, Like A Stone.....

When I’m at work I’m often cut off from the outside world as far as the news is concerned. I rarely hear or read what’s going on in the world from the time I leave the house at around half seven in the morning until I get home around six-fifteen in the evening. So when a certain song played over my earphones on the bus ride home I had no idea of the relevance it had.

You see, over the past few months I’ve started to listen to a lot of Audioslave, the hybrid super group made up of members of Rage Against the Machine and Soundgarden. I’ve paid attention to them briefly over the years, but when I caught sight of the video for their 2003 release Like a Stone during a late night channel surfing session I was kind of blown away, especially by Chris Cornell’s excellent vocals, so much so that their three albums began to feature heavily on my phone’s music player.

So What Happened When I Wrote To Those Political Types?

Election fever is certainly gripping the country at the moment, and it’s certainly gripped me, in the sense that the fever has made me quite sick of politics once again. But all of this local and national nonsense doesn’t stop me thinking of something I tried during the last election all the way back in 2015.

You see, back then I’d been unemployed for quite a while. Frustration was something I felt every day as I spent hour after hour and day after day just looking for someone who’d give me a job, and during the election campaign I began to wonder just what my local parliamentary candidates could do for people in my situation.

A Tale of Two Bosses

As you may know I’ve worked for a variety of companies over the years, from local hotels to local factories to wrestling companies to retail establishments. It’s fair to say that I’ve encountered a wide variety of bosses during that time, and the other day I was reminded just how different two of those people were when I saw two of my former bosses in the space of a couple of hours.

TV Review: World of Sport Wrestling

It was a part of our lives for decades, and gave us legends such as the Dynamite Kid, Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks and many more until ITV took it off our screens in the late eighties.

But this past New Year’s Eve saw the return of the prodigal son as World of Sport Wrestling returned to ITV’s screens with a new generation of stars, with the legendary Jim Ross handling commentary duties alongside British wrestling stalwart Alex Shane.

You Never Stop Missing Them

Thirty-three years ago today, my Mum passed away.

I still remember the last time I saw her. She was watching television in the front room, and I said good night to her and gave her a kiss before I went to bed. I had no idea then that just a few hours later she would be gone.

You’re probably wondering where I’ve been recently, haven’t you?

Well, it’s actually been quite a busy time for me. If you’re one of my many social media followers you’ll know that this past July I finally got a job as a Sunday Sales Assistant at QD Stores here in Cromer. This was followed, six weeks later, with a second job as a sales assistant at the Claws ‘N’ Paws pet shop in Sheringham. This, along with my voluntary position at the RNLI Henry Blogg Museum meant that I was working in a variety of roles, which meant that this blog had to go on the back burner a little.

Catch-Up: WWE Battleground

It was the first pay per view since the brand split, but was it any good, and was it worth my reviewing it a few weeks after it happened? That’s what I was hoping to find out by watching WWE’s Battleground, shown recently on Sky Box Office here in the UK.
