In eager anticipation of the Zebra Kid's debut for the most publicised wrestling company in the U.K., I made my way to the F.W.A.'s Carpe Diem show, eager to get a taste of a company I had heard so much of in the past year. The show actually started later than advertised (an ominous sign, perhaps?), but at least I was getting the chance to sample another promotion.

I will always have a soft spot for the British Inter-Federation Cup. First contested in 2005 by the founders, the World Association of Wrestling, and their arch rivals in the Frontier Wrestling Alliance, it was thought of as a way of bringing the much fragmented British wrestling scene together. Sadly, it didn’t really work out like that. But why am I so fond of this tournament? Because I was the one who came up with the name!

FWA NOAH Limits 2 - DVD Review

With Japanese wrestling company Pro Wrestling NOAH visiting merry old England in June, I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at a previous visit to these shores by NOAH stars. In July 2006, Muhhamad Yone and Takeshi Morishima took a trip to the now-defunct Frontier Wrestling Alliance for their NOAH Limits 2 show in Colchester, joining British stars such as Darren Burridge, Doug Williams and Hade Vansen. But that wasn’t all! Not only was former WWE and WCW star Billy Kidman on the show, but so was former WWF Champion Bret “The Hitman” Hart, paying a flying visit to Britain. Our host for the evening is Dann Read, although I’m pretty sure he’s also the ring announcer!

FWA Academy Supercard III - DVD Review

Another first for The Two Sheds Review….well….kind of, as we take a look at the Frontier Wrestling Alliance Academy, an off-shoot of the now defunct Frontier Wrestling Alliance here in Britain, who, until recently, held regular shows in Portsmouth on the south coast of England. The show we’re going to look at here is Supercard III, filmed in April 2006, and headlined by a non-title bout between FWA British Champion Hade Vansen and FWA Academy Champion Dan Head, with the winner getting a shot at the loser’s title.

Two years ago The Wrestling Channel were in need of footage for a new show, designed to promote British wrestling and wrestlers, most notably those who weren’t featured on the weekly Frontier Wrestling Alliance show. When the FWA’s TV show went on hiatus towards the end of the 2004, UK Round-Up was born, hosted by Powerslam writer Mo Chatra, and with “Hardcore” John Atkins and “Charming” Don Charles handling commentary duties. He is regarded as one of the top stars on the American indy circuit at the moment, and in 2004, “Classic” Colt Cabana embarked on a two month wrestling tour of Europe, competing for some of the continent’s top promotions, and he captured it all for posterity in DVD form with Colt Cabana’s European Vacation, courtesy of Wrestlestuff productions.

A few weeks ago I reviewed the first episode of the UWA's Wrestling Rampage show, which was broadcast on Live TV here in Britain in 1999. Two years later, the Frontier Wrestling Alliance made their debut on cable television, appearing on MyTV in Portsmouth. So, having reviewed the UWA's first effort to get British wrestling back on television, now it's time to look at the FWA's efforts.
