WWE Backlash 2006 - PPV Review

It’s that time of the month again, as WWE moves beyond Wrestlemania and into the summer with Backlash, and our hosts for the evening are the returning Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler.

Unlike other TNA pay-per-views, I’m always somewhat reticent about watching Lockdown. The concept that every bout is held within the confines of a steel cage seems lacking in imagination, but seeing as this is being shown free on The Wrestling Channel, I thought what the hell, and give the show a look!

It was just over nine years ago when a certain company took a major step by holding their first ever pay-per-view, as Extreme Championship Wrestling presented Barely Legal ‘97 from the famed ECW Arena in Philadelphia. Seeing as how they’ve been around for about fours years now, and I’ve been watching them for just over two years, I thought it would be a good idea to finally review a Ring of Honor DVD. So, flicking through my DVD collection, where better to start than with the first one I came to, All-Star Extravaganza.

CZW Point of No Return on TWC - TV Review

I’ve never really been a fan of Combat Zone Wrestling. With a few exceptions their style of wrestling just doesn’t appeal to me. But seeing as The Wrestling Channel here in Britain have now given them their own regular Supercard Sunday slot, I thought what the hell, I might as well add Point of No Return to my ever growing list of reviews.

New Jack: Hardcore - DVD Review

Without a doubt the true highlight of last year’s “101 Reasons Not To Be A Pro Wrestler” was former ECW star New Jack, who came across as the most open and personable man in that particular documentary.

This edition of The Two Sheds Review sees us taking a trip to the other side of the world and back in time to 1991, as World Championship Wrestling teamed up with their New Japan Pro Wrestling counterparts to present Rumble in the Rising Sun, held before a sell-out crowd at the Tokyo Dome. Our hosts for the show are a pre-cowboy Jim Ross and a pre-diet Tony Schivane.

AWA:UK 13/11/05 - DVD Review

It was almost a year ago that British promoter John Chapman held his first wrestling show in Ware, Hertfordshire. A short time after holding his second show, Chapman signed a promotional deal with the resurgent American Wrestling Association, and under the new AWA:UK banner, they released a DVD of their November 2005 show, their first commercial DVD release, in conjunction with Pinfall Productions.

With the biggest wrestling show of the year just a week away, I thought it would be a good time to take a look back at where it all began, back to Madison Square Garden in 1985, and the first ever Wrestlemania. Our hosts for the evening are the legendary commentary team of Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

WCFC No Guts No Glory - TV Review

This past Tuesday saw the debut of a new mixed martial arts promotion in Britain, as the World Cage Fighting Championship presented “No Guts, No Glory” from the MEN Arena in Manchester, and broadcast on Sky Sports. The host for the show was regular Sky Sports News presenter Paul Boardman, ably assisted by former UFC Champion Bas Rutten, who also acted as master of ceremonies for the show.

It’s that time of the month again as we fans here in Britain get to sample TNA’s latest pay-per-view offering, Destination X, shown on a one-week delay on The Wrestling Channel.
