"Adam," he said, his voice cracking. "My creation. My child."
Adam's expression was neutral, but Sinclair could sense a hint of curiosity. "Doctor," he said, his voice firm. "We've been searching for answers. About your experiment, about my creation."
Frankenstein's eyes dropped, shame and guilt written across his face. "I didn't mean to harm anyone," he said. "I just wanted to push the boundaries of science, to see what was possible."
Sinclair's expression was stern. "Your experiment has caused a lot of harm, Doctor," he said. "But we're not here to assign blame. We're here to understand what happened, and what it means for Adam's future."
Frankenstein's eyes locked onto Adam, filled with a deep sadness. "I'm glad you're alive, Adam," he said. "I'm glad you're thriving."
Adam's expression softened slightly, but his voice remained firm. "Why did you create me, Doctor?" he asked. "What was your purpose?"
Frankenstein hesitated, collecting his thoughts. "I wanted to create life," he said. "I wanted to prove that science could overcome the boundaries of nature. But I realize now that I was blinded by my ambition. I didn't consider the consequences."
Sinclair's eyes narrowed. "And what do you think Adam's purpose is now?" he asked.
Frankenstein's eyes dropped, his voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know," he said. "But I hope that Adam can find it in his heart to forgive me, and to find his own path in life."
Adam's expression was thoughtful, his eyes locked onto Frankenstein's. "I'll think about it, Doctor," he said. "But for now, I need to focus on my own future."
As they left the brig, Sinclair couldn't help but feel a sense of hope. Maybe, just maybe, Adam could find a way to forgive his creator and move forward. And maybe, just maybe, Sinclair could help him find his place in the universe.
But as they walked away, Sinclair knew that there were still many challenges ahead. Challenges that would test Adam's resolve, and Sinclair's own commitment to helping him.
