ROH Motor City Madness 2009 - CPC Movies DVD Review

It’s hard to believe that Ring of Honor has been around for many years now. In that time we’ve seen tremendous matches from the likes of Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, A.J. Styles, C.M. Punk and Colt Cabana, to name but a few. But word has it that because of their television deal the company could be on it’s last legs, and that their match quality has slipped somewhat.

WWE Backlash on Sky Sports - TV Review

Just three weeks after Wrestlemania 25, World Wrestling Entertainment are back on pay-per-view with Backlash, shown live in the early hours of this past Sunday morning here in Britain on Sky Sports, and headlined by Triple H, Batista and Shane McMahon facing The Legacy, and John Cena taking on Edge in a last man standing match. Michael Cole, Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on the microphone for this one.

TNA Lockdown on Bravo 2 - TV Review

It’s multi-man gimmick match overload time again as Total Non-Stop Action goes on the road to Philadelphia for their latest pay-per-view offering, the 2009 version of Lockdown, with Mick Foley challenging Sting for the gold, and shown on a three day delay here in Britain on Bravo 2. As usual, Mike Tenay and Don West are at ringside handling commentary duties.

My journey is about to come to an end. Having reviewed the first five shows of the Ultimate Combat Legacy Volume 1 DVD set, I’m now going to take a look at the final show in the collection, which sees the promotion moving away from the ring and into the cage with Ultimate Combat 6: Battle In The Cage.

It’s that time of the month again where the good and the great of the Ultimate Fighting Championship show their wares on pay-per-view, with “The Iceman” Chuck Liddell making his comeback against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and Anderson “Spider” Silva defending the Middleweight title against Thales Leites in Montreal at UFC 97: Redemption, shown in the early hours of this past Sunday morning on Setanta Sports here in Britain. As usual, commentary duties are handled by Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan.

WWW 2nd Anniversary Spectacular - DVD Review

I’m going to continue the theme of women’s wrestling with this latest review, by going back to a promotion I first looked at last year. The promotion in question is World Women’s Wrestling, the sister company of New England Championship Wrestling, and the DVD we’re going to look at here is their two disc 2nd Anniversary Spectacular, held at the Good Time Emporium in Somerville Massachusetts in March last year, and headlined by WWW Champion Lexxus taking on “The Portuguese Princess” Ariel in a title versus career match. As always, the main man of NECW, Sheldon Goldberg, is handling commentary duties.

And so the marathon continues. Having reviewed the first four shows of the Ultimate Combat Legacy Volume 1 box set, we now move onto the fifth show, Ultimate Combat 5: Maximum Power, and with the shows getting better as I go along, I’ve got high hopes for this one.

Twenty years ago, a 17 year old wrestling fan, having first viewed the World Wrestling Federation two years before with a certain disdain, decided to give their product another go. The first show he really paid attention to was held at the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and was shown on a two month delay on Sky Channel here in Britain. That show was Wrestlemania V, and that wrestling fan was yours truly. Now, twenty years on, the biggest show in the history of professional wrestling is still going strong, with World Wrestling Entertainment presenting Wrestlemania 25, shown live here in Britain on Sky Box Office, with Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole handling commentary duties.

It’s time for the great and the good of the Ultimate Fighting Championship to take centre stage again, and this time they’re doing it on free television with their 18th Ultimate Fight Night, shown live here in Britain in the early hours of this past Thursday on Setanta Sports. WSU Tag Team Title Tournament - DVD Review

This past December I took a first look at the all-women’s Women Superstars Uncensored promotion. So, as I thought I hadn’t seen any of their stuff in a while, I thought I’d take a gander at the second DVD they’ve sent to me to review, WSU Tag-Team Title Tournament, held this past September in Boonton, New Jersey.
