It was inevitable. After the success of their Timeline: The History of WWE series Kayfabe Commentaries have turned their attention to the land of extreme with their newest release Timeline: The History of ECW 1997.
With the ever reliable Sean Oliver asking the questions our tour guide is none other than the homicidal, genocidal, suicidal (did I get those in the right order?) Sabu, and from the moment this DVD starts it’s a hell of a ride.
No stone is left unturned as Sabu takes us through what was probably ECW’s biggest year. It was the year of their first pay-per-view, the year Terry Funk won the World title, the year ECW invaded Monday Night Raw, and the year that Sabu himself won the World title.
These are just a few of the topics that Oliver and Sabu discuss, and although it does seem a little odd to hear Sabu speak it’s also a joy to hear him talk about the promotion and the people that meant the world to him.
There are many things that the most die hard of ECW fans would want to hear about, and like Sabu you may get a little emotional about some of the issues discussed here.
So in conclusion, Sean and his boys have done it again. This is the perfect release for ECW fans. This definitely gets the big thumbs up, and I really hope that Kayfabe Commentaries continue with this series.
And if Sean Oliver is reading this (and I know that he probably will), how about booking either Tommy Dreamer or Raven for the next instalment?
With thanks to the powers that be for supplying a copy of this release. Timeline: The History of ECW 1997 is available to buy online at www.kayfabecommentaries.com.
