Ever since he became Ring of Honor World Champion, British star Nigel McGuinness has been blowing away the competition, from the likes of Bryan Danielson to D-Lo Brown. But this past February he had to deal with three challengers.
Eliminating The Competition, held in Danbury, Connecticut, is one of the latest of ROH’s many DVD releases, and once again proves why the company is considered a more than viable alternative to TNA and WWE.
From the opening match pitting Papadon against Bobby Fish, through an excellent bout which sees Bryan Danielson against the masked madman Delirious, through to the aforementioned main event in which Jerry Lynn, Tyler Black and Jimmy Jacobs all try to wrestle the title from McGuinness in a four-way elimination match, it’s a hell of a show, and because of this, I would have given it a five star rating. But sadly, I couldn’t, because once again the so-called hardcore icon Necro Butcher stunk up the place in a mad brawl with Brodie Lee.
So if you’re a Ring of Honor mark, then add this to your collection. Just fast forward through the Butcher’s match.
