Over the past few years I’ve seen many all-women wrestling promotions, from Britain, France, the USA, and, of course, Japan, and even though they’ve been going for quite a while now, I’ve never seen anything from Ring of Honor’s sister promotion, Shimmer.
Shimmer Volume 3 is the first time I’ve viewed their product, and I was impressed. While some of the promotions I’ve seen looked like they were scraping the bottom of the battle, this release brought together some of the best female wrestlers on the circuit.
The main event pitting Sara Del Ray against Daizee Haze is a great encounter, and is well supported by the undercard, with Cheerleader Melissa against Shantelle Taylor and the now sadly retired Rebecca Knox versus Allison Danger the pick of the crop. Special mention must also go to former TNA Knockout Nikki Roxx here, the best woman’s wrestler never to have won the big title in TNA.
Although it’s an early release, Shimmer Volume 3 is a tremendous example of solid women’s wrestling, and while it may not be the best all-women’s show I’ve seen, it’s certainly one of the best.
