iGW Rodman Down Under - Retro Review

So what do you get when you put a bunch of ageing former WWE superstars with one of the most controversial figures in the history of basketball? No, it’s not a mid-nineties WCW show, it’s iGeneration Wrestling, and this edition sees us taking a trip back eight years to Sydney, Australia, with Curt Hennig defending his iGW World title against Dennis Rodman in the appropriately titled Rodman Down Under, which has been broadcast lord knows how many times on The Fight Network here in Britain, and is also available around the world on DVD! Commentary duties for this one are handled by Mike Mancini and the Million Dollar Man himself, Ted Dibiase.

FWA Academy Honor Academy - DVD Review

This edition of The Two Sheds Review sees me continuing an occasional series which began at the beginning of July. Having reviewed the DVD release of Ring of Honor’s first full show here in Britain, “Unified”, and their collaboration with the Frontier Wrestling Alliance for “Frontiers of Honor”, I’m once again going to look at another FWA/ROH collaboration, but with a slight difference. This time I’m going to look at ROH’s visit to the FWA Academy, with a review of Honor Academy, held two years ago. The show features the cream of ROH talent going up against the best the FWA Academy has to offer, and is headlined by then-ROH Champion Bryan Danielson taking on the head trainer of the academy and former FWA Champion, Mark Sloan.

WWE Summerslam on Sky Box Office - TV Review

It’s the biggest wrestling event of the summer, and it’s hard to believe it’s in it’s twentieth year. Yep, it’s WWE Summerslam, headlined by four massive matches, and shown live on Sky Box Office here in Britain.

TNA Hard Justice on Bravo 2 - TV Review

It’s gimmick match overload time again (and I know the readers of Wrestling Edge are going to love that opening line) as I make my monthly trip to the kingdom of TNA with their latest pay-per-view, Hard Justice, headlined by Samoa Joe defending his World title against Booker T in a weapons-filled cage match, and shown on a three day delay here in Britain on Bravo 2. As usual, our hosts for the evening are the Professor himself, Mike Tenay, and the man who would merit a visit from Trinny and Susannah, Don West.

UFC 87: Seek & Destroy on Setanta Sports - TV Review

It’s make or break time for Brock Lesnar. Can the former WWE Champion score his first UFC victory against the veteran Heath Herring. And can one of the greatest of all, Georges St-Pierre, successfully defend his welterweight title angst Jon Fitch? Well, that’s what I hope to find out as I take a look at UFC 87: Seek & Destroy, shown live on Setanta Sports here in Britain, and, as always, hosted by the ever dependable Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan.

WWF Summerslam '88 - Retro Review

With this year’s edition of Summerslam not that far away, I’m going to start a new tradition with this review. Many of you will know that before each year’s Wrestlemania, I review a past Wrestlemania. So why not do that with the second biggest show of the year? So this time I’m going to go back to 1988 and Madison Square Garden for the very first Summerslam, headlined by The Mega-Powers, WWF Champion Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan, taking on The Mega-Bucks, Ted Dibiase and Andre The Giant. Handling commentary for this one are Gorilla Monsoon and Superstar Billy Graham, because Jesse Ventura has other things to do, and you’ll find out more about that later.

Guest Booker with Gabe Sapolsky - DVD Review

Some of you may remember that just over a month ago I reviewed Kayfabe Commentaries’ “Guest Booker with Raven” DVD, where he booked Scott Hall and Kevin Nash’s entry into the old ECW in 1996. Well, as I was so impressed with the spot of fantasy booking, and as I’m working on a similar project myself, I thought it would be a good idea to take at another volume in this series, the title in question being “Guest Booker with Gabe Sapolsky”. In case you didn’t know, Gabe is the head booker for Ring of Honor, and here he’s been put in charge of booking the “new” ECW in 2006, up until the December to Dismember pay-per-view.

K-1 Dynamite 2006 - DVD Review

So what do you get when combine mixed martial arts fights with those fought under K-1 kickboxing rules? No, it’s not Pride/K-1 Shockwave 2002, it’s four years later than that, as we’re going to take a look at the DVD release of the K-1 Premium Dynamite 2006, featuring some of the greats of the MMA and K-1 worlds, such as Kazushi Sakuraba, Genki Sudo, Semmy Schilt, Musashi and a whole lot more.

ROH Unified - DVD Review

For this edition of The Two Sheds Review we’re taking another trip stateside. Well, sort of, because in August 2006, Ring of Honor came to the Liverpool Olympia in merry old England for two shows, the first of which, Unified, we’re looking at here. This main event for this one features a unification match, with ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson facing Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness.
