Alliances: Civil War II Chapter Fifty-Two

As the Death Star maintained its orbit of the planet Wayland, more and more ships began to join it in orbit. Vader watched the main hangar bay as smaller shuttles began to arrive.

The first contained a man even he did not want at the conference. Sador of the Malmori was known throughout the quadrant for his ruthlessness and barbarism, but to many, he was nothing more than a thug, only one step up from a bounty hunter, with his motley crew of men and women, some even coming from the planet Monstron.

Nearby sat a small Eldat cruiser, part of the new Eldar Alliance, formed shortly after the inauguration of President James Watt on Babylon 5. The Eldar held this conference in high regard, so high in fact that the leader of their alliance, Lanriel Nightland, attended himself.

At the far end of the hangar, the Mongo War Rocket Ajax sat, and out stepped one of the most ruthless men in the galaxy. Ming the Merciless had ruled his homeworld with an iron fist, and even though there was talk of rebellion on his homeworld, that's all it was, talk.

Underneath his mask, Vader smiled. The Empire was getting stronger by the day. Soon, the entire known galaxy would be theirs. They would soon have to explore deeper into space, and search for new lands to conquer.

On the largely uninhabited world of Xenon, a lone, young woman sat in the main control room. For days now she had been monitoring transmissions, using sophisticated equipment to pull transmissions from all over the galaxy. Equipment such as this would have been the envy of any galactic power, yet it was owned by just one man.

One particular transmission interested the woman. It was a scrambled transmission, but using a decoder, she managed to find out what it was all about. It concerned the Galactic Empire, and some conference they were holding on the distant planet known only as Wayland.

Getting up from her seat, she walked over to the communications panel, and flicked a few switches.

Just entering the sector was a small planet-hopper type vessel. Aboard sat its lone occupant. He was deep in thought when his computer began to speak to him.

"Sorry to disturb you, master, but I'm picking up a transmission from Xenon base. It's from Mistress Soolin."

"Very well. Put it through."

The screen in front of him came to life. The image of the young woman was soon before him.

"Dorian, this is Soolin. I've picked up something I think you should know about. Have you ever heard of a planet called Wayland? It's deep in the Delta Quadrant."

"No. What's this all about?"

"The Galactic Empire are holding some sort of conference there. Several major powers from all over the galaxy are attending."

Dorian began to rub his chin as he leaned back into his chair.

"It would seem the Imperials are strengthening their borders, as it were. They're probably going to share their propulsion technology with them as well."

"Surely you're not going to Wayland to try and get this technology?"

"Quite the opposite, Soolin. If the Empire are gaining new allies, then perhaps the Free Federation are looking for help as well, no matter how small it may be. Perhaps it may be time to take a trip to the Time of Legends!"

As those invited gathered at an informal reception deep in the heart of Mount Tantiss, new friendships were formed. Many seemed to give Sador a wide berth, and thought that his Monstron companions were nothing more than vulgar fools. It seemed that Sador had recruited the worst Monstrons in the galaxy. Only Lanriel Nightland seemed to enjoy Sador's company.

Several of the Kazon from different sects seemed to be getting along. It seemed that by working for the same goal, they could settle their differences.

Most of the conversations stopped when another delegation entered. Many had heard rumors of Davros attending these talks, but many had thought them to be false rumors. They were proved wrong when Davros and three other Daleks entered the room. However, Davros no longer represented the planet Skaro. These 'renegade' Daleks were of his own creation. Some consider them better, more deadly than those from Skaro.

Finally, the final delegation from the Alpha Quadrant arrived. Servalan, in a long flowing ball-gown, strode into the reception, and immediately found that she had many friends. Many admired her for her work in destabilizing the mighty United Federation of Planets. She had done something no one had ever done before.

Beside her, dressed in Istarian ceremonial robes, stood Damian Darkmagus. Upon seeing him, Palpatine smiled. He soon caught the eye of Darkmagus, and each man bowed their heads, acknowledging the other, for the respect and the power that each man now held.

Palpatine began to think that he had done well, getting all of these powers together on the same planet. The Empire was growing stronger. Soon, the galaxy, and perhaps more, would be his.
