The Rise of Supremus - Chapter Seven

Watt began to regain his senses very slowly. As he came to he could tell that his arms and legs were immobile. He was strapped down to something. He looked sideways at his arms and could see they were both strapped down by what appeared to be thick metal straps. He tried to move but found that he couldn’t. He continued to struggle for a number of minutes until he heard footsteps nearby. He looked up and the huge form of Supremus stood over him.

“Greetings Captain Watt. I see that you are finally regaining your senses. Good. I want you, the leader of Anglo-Force, to witness what is possibly the greatest moment in not only my life but the life of this entire world, for it is soon that the power of the planet will be used to give me power, and in turn your world will become a lifeless ball of rock!”
“You’re insane.” said Watt. “Your plan is doomed to failure. No one has ever been able to do what you want to.”
“Correct.” said Supremus. “No one has ever been able to drill a hole to the Earth’s core before. That is because they have tried to drill through the surface, the crust of the planet. But I am taking a different route. I am going through one of two volcanoes which are situated off the west coast of Africa. It is there that I will become….omnipotent!”
Watt continued to struggle, to try and break free from his restraints.
“There is no use in trying to break your restraints.” said Supremus. “They are made of adamantium, the strongest metal known to man. I am sure that even you cannot break free from them!”

It had been twenty-four hours since Watt left for Craigmillar Castle, and Red Sun was getting worried.
“There must be some way of finding him!” she said, pacing up and down the monitor room.
“We’re trying all we can.” said White Knight.
White Knight leaned forward and pressed a button on one of the control panels.
“Headquarters to Craigmillar Castle. Are you there Jim?”
    There was no reply.
    “Come in Craigmillar.”
Again no answer. White Knight turned to Reid
“Is there any way we can get a lock onto his communicator?”
“I’ve tried. Unless his communicator is damaged in some way. We have no way of contacting him.
Reid sat back in his chair.
“He may have been picked up on radar screens.” he said. “There’s an R.A.F. monitor station on the north coast of Scotland.”
“It won’t work.” said White Knight. “Jim moves way too fast for radar. As far as I can see we have only one choice. Who’s up for a sky-jet trip to Craigmillar?”

Waves lashed against the cargo ship’s hull as it moved through the Atlantic Ocean towards the west coast of Africa. The ship was travelling in excess of two hundred miles an hour, but Supremus was using his power to keep the ship together, making sure it didn’t break up. While this happened Watt still lay strapped down to the deck, helpless, unable to stop what was happening. He could only watch as Supremus steered the ship. Every now and then Supremus looked over at Watt and smiled.
“Do not worry Captain Watt.” he said. “It will be all over soon, and you will be the first to witness my gaining of ultimate power!”

It had taken roughly ninety minutes for the Anglo-Force sky-jet to reach the north coast of Scotland. It was a few minutes later when they reached Craigmillar Island.
“Nothing coming up on the scanner.” said White Knight. “No life readings from within the castle.”
“We’d better land then.” said Red Sun. “That’s the only way we’ll be able to get a good look.
White Knight began to circle the island, looking for a place to land.
“There’s nowhere we can put down.” he said. “We’ll have to go into aqua mode.”
White Knight reached forward and pushed a button on the control panel. On the underside of the jet three hatches opened, two near the front, one near the back. Three things resembling skis then emerged. This, called the aqua mode, would allow the sky-jet to land on the water, which it duly did.
As soon as they had ‘landed’ the side entrance opened, and Red Sun, Star Man and Supercop flew out. After they had left Reid used his stretching power to reach up to the island, and he carried White Knight to the castle entrance.
“I’ve heard of this castle.” said Reid. “Although I’ve never met Magus I’ve heard he is a brilliant scientists.”
“Before he left he was working on a modified transporter system.” said White Knight. “It would have allowed us to travel here without using a sky-jet.”
White Knight looked skywards, looking for his team-mates. He soon saw Red Sun.
“There’s no point in trying to get in through the door.” she said. “Jim normally came in through this way.”
Red Sun pointed to one of the windows and then flew in.
“Looks like I’ll need your help again, Doctor.” said White Knight.
Without replying Reid again used his powers to take White Knight and himself into the castle. Red Sun was waiting at the window for them.
“Star Man and Supercop have gone to the study.” she said.
“Of course.” said White Knight. “Magus has some sort of computer there. Jock Muir based our system on Magus’.”
A few minutes later they entered the study and saw Star Man and Supercop seated at the computer.
“Have you found anything?” asked White Knight.
“Only that after completing his checks Jim flew off in the direction of some of the other islands around here.” said Star Man. “He headed in the direction of Gruinard Island first.”
“Then I suggest we go there first.” said White Knight. “Daniel, I’d like you to try and establish a link between Magus’ computer and the computer on the sky-jet.”
“It shouldn’t be too difficult.” said Reid. “You said his system was similar to our own.”
As Star Man and Supercop left their seats Reid took his place at the terminal. It didn’t take him long because of his vast knowledge of computers.
“The link is established.” he said.
“Then on to Gruinard Island.” said White Knight.
