Federation No More: Civil War Chapter Eighty-Two

The time had come. Every vote had been counted, and now, nearly five hundred planets and colonies that made up the United Federation of Planets waited with baited breath as the result was announced.

On the Pegasus station, the senior officers of all the ships now under the flag of the Free Federation stood in the Operations Room, gazing at the view-screen, watching the I.S.N. broadcast as Lois Kent, their top reporter, stood outside Starfleet Command in San Francisco as the result was announced.

A cheer rang out throughout the Pegasus station as the result was announced. President Servalan had gained 49.2% of the vote, while Ambassador Spock had gained 50.8% of the vote. Even though Servalan had helped gain peace with the Dominion, Spock had won the election.

A wave of relief swept throughout the Pegasus station as Lois Kent announced the result. Although they had gathered to fight Servalan's tyranny, their efforts would not be needed, or so they thought.

In San Francisco, Lois Kent grabbed her ear piece. "If you can just hang on one moment, I'm getting a call through."

There was a pause of a few moments before she spoke again.

"We're now going live to the Presidential Palace in Paris."

The image changed to one of Servalan seated at her seat in her office.

In front of her was a prepared statement. She began to read from it.

She began to speak the words that millions did not want to hear.

She spoke the words that would plunge the galaxy into chaos, and into war: she declared the election null and void, and claimed the Presidency, even though she had lost the election.

There was an outcry throughout the quadrant. On countless worlds, they reacted angrily to the news that Servalan had over-turned the election result.

Yet, there was nothing they could do.

It then began. Before they had gone to Nimbus III at the request of Magus, the Enterprise had detected countless ships in the Denara belt near the Sontarran homeworld.

Now, those ships began to move, in formation. All eyes in the United Federation of Planet were on Earth, trying to find out what the hell was going on. They did not notice the huge fleet, the armada, of nearly a thousand ships heading from the outskirts of the Delta Quadrant into the Alpha Quadrant.

It had begun, and the Federation would never be the same again.

To be continued.....
