The Two Sheds Mix Tape 51: Tribute to Jim Steinman

The music world is in mourning again with the passing of one of the greatest songwriters of all time, the great Jim Steinman.

Steinman will, without a doubt, be best remembered for his collaborations with Meat Loaf, beginning with their 1977 classic Bat Out of Hell. It really is one of the greatest albums of all time, and it wasn’t surprising that it stayed in the charts for so many years.

Steinman’s work led him to collaborate with others as well, most notably with Bonnie Tyler on the 1980’s and her memorable hits Total Eclipse of the Heart and Faster Than the Speed of Night.

To celebrate his work I’ve put together this special Mix Tape containing twelve songs he worked on, six from Meat Loaf, four from Bonnie Tyler, one from the film Streets of Fire, and one from the man himself. Here’s the track listing.

1) Bat Out of Hell - Meat Loaf
2) Paradise by the Dashboard Light - Meat Loaf
3) Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler
4) Tonight is What it Means to be Young - Fire Inc
5) Holding Out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler
6) Rock ‘N’ Roll Dreams Come Through - Jim Steinman
7) Dead Ringer for Love - Meat Loaf & Cher
8) Faster Than the Speed of Night - Bonnie Tyler
9) You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth - Meat Loaf
10) Loving You’s a Dirty Job But Somebody’s Gotta Do It - Bonnie Tyler
11) Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad - Meat Loaf
12) I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That) - Meat Loaf
